Align one cable clamp above the tube bolts
and the other below the starter rope handle.
Install the cable clamps one at a time
around the tube and throttle cable.
NOTE:
Ensure throttle cable is in groove of
clamps and lies flat against the upper handle
tube after installation (see illustration above).
FUEL YOUR UNIT
This engine is certified to operate on un-
leaded gasoline. Gasoline must be mixed
with a good quality 2-cycle air-cooled engine
oil designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1.

brand oil is recom-
mended. (A 40:1 ratio is obtained by mixing
3.2 ounces of oil with 1 gallon of unleaded
gasoline). When mixing fuel follow the
instructions printed on the container. Always
read and follow the safety rules under FUEL
SAFETY.

HOW TO STOP YOUR UNIT
Move the stop switch to the STOP or OFF
position until the unit has fully stopped.
WARNING:
The trimmer head will
turn while starting the engine. A hot muffler
can cause serious burns.
HOW TO START YOUR UNIT
STARTING A COLD ENGINE OR A
WARM ENGINE AFTER RUNNING
OUTOFFUEL

Move the switch to the ON position.
S
Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
S
Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE posi-
tion.
S
Squeeze and hold throttle trigger through
all remaining steps.

Pull starter rope handle sharply 6 times.
S
Move the choke lever to HALF CHOKE
position.
S
Pull the starter rope handle no more than 6
pulls, until engine runs.
S
Allow the engine to run 10 seconds, then
move choke lever to OFF CHOKE position.
RESTARTING A WARM ENGINE
S
Move choke lever to HALF CHOKE posi-
tion.
S
Pull starter rope handle until engine runs.
S
If engine does not start in 5 pulls, follow in-
structions in STARTING A COLD ENGINE.

ALWAYS USE:
Cut on right side only.
NOTE:
Keep left and right hands on grips
during operation of unit as shown above to
avoid covering air intake holes located on un-
derside of upper handle.
CLEAN THE AIR INTAKE SCREEN
The air intake screen allows air to c irculate to
keep the engine functioning properly and pre-
vents debris from entering the engine.

top your unit before at-
tempting to clean the intake screen. DO NOT
USE GARDEN HOSE OR PRESSURE
WASHER TO CLEAN THIS UNIT!

Clean the intake screen periodically with a
nylon brush.
CLEAN THE AIR FILTER
A dirty air filter decreases engine perfor-
mance and increases fuel consumption and
harmful emissions. Always clean with engine
stopped. Clean filter after every 5 hours of op-
eration.

Clean the air filter cover and the area
around the cover to prevent dirt from falling
into the carburetor chamber when the cover
is removed.
S
Remove parts as illustrated. It is not neces-
sary to remove the air filter hose from the air
filter cover.
NOTE:
If the air filter hose becomes unat-
tached from the cover or lower handle during
cleaning, reattach before attempting to restart
the engine or operate the unit.
